Digital minister wants current imports servers, data storages kept
MOSCOW, Oct 19 (PRIME) -- Russia should maintain the current imports volumes of parallel imports of servers and data storage systems, Digital Development Minister Maksut Shadayev said on Thursday.
“As to servers and data storage systems, I think, the government’s goal will be now to keep the positions we have gained, we are discussing different regulatory measures. The position of our ministry is that we should not limit parallel imports, we should reduce chances of price dumping for foreign equipment,” Shadayev said.
The question of stable supplies of heavy equipment – servers and data storage systems – arose in January–June 2022, but now the situation has improved, the minister added.
“We exceeded 50% of the market of heavy equipment that Russian companies produce…I see now that many heavy equipment vendors even from the friendly countries that took a wait-and-see stand last year are trying to regain their positions and are dumping strongly,” Shadayev said.
There are three unsolved questions, which is manufacturing of laptops, tablets, and base stations. “These three categories probably raise certain our concern, but we have plans, rather big and ambitious,” the minister said.
